Be A Hero! Volunteer Today!

“We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.”
--Winston Churchill

Volunteering to help older adults and their families is a rewarding experience. The Willing Hearts, Helpful Hands program is an opportunity for you to make a difference in your community by helping to ease the burdens of family caregivers of older adult loved ones.

Whether you provide companionship, assist in chores, provide telephone or shopping assistance, or offer your own very specialized talents, you’ll become one of today’s true heroes. As a volunteer, you’ll receive expert training, ongoing support from highly experienced program staff, and volunteer assignments based on your schedule and interests.

Plus, as of April 1st, eligible volunteers can receive a living allowance of $125 per month and a educational award in the amount of $1,415 (given upon the completion of one year of service) through AmeriCorps. In addition, volunteers age 55 or older can pass this educational award to their children, grandchildren or foster children.

If you would like to offer your ‘helpful hands’ simply complete the Volunteer Application below or call the VolunteerLine at (718) 289-2100, ext. 4980 to learn more.
